Price: Free
Language: English, Dutch, French and Spanish
Description
This new version of WMWifiRouter brings many small improvements, enhancements, bug-fixes and device-specific stability improvements. We’ve picked a handful of the most noticeable changes from our changelogs:
- All languages have been updated, and we’ve added support for Dutch, French and Spanish
- The multilingual version now loads much faster
- Massive amounts of code were added to ensure Wi-Fi stability on those devices with “sensitive” Wi-Fi drivers
- On most of the devices WMWifiRouter is able to use Bluetooth with, multiple simultaneous Bluetooth clients are now supported
- New Wi-Fi connections now pop up a notification with the details of the device that connected
- Power management has been improved, and an option has been added to allow the screen to turn off without manually using the power (or end call) button, for both PocketPC (professional, touchscreen) and SmartPhone (standard, non-touchscreen) platforms. On some devices this has side effects, so it is disabled by default. See the FAQ for how to enable this feature.
- Command line options have been added for the power users (again, see the FAQ)
- Some features that are not supported on your device will be automatically hidden
WMWifiRouter is now also directly available from Windows Marketplace for Mobile, in all the geographic regions where the language spoken is supported by WMWifiRouter. For now, only the PocketPC (professional, touchscreen) version of WMWifiRouter is available, but we will also release the SmartPhone (standard, non-touchscreen) version within a few weeks. There was some confusion for a few of our users as the 2.00 release showed up in Marketplace in the United States before we released it on our website. We would like to point out that the Marketplace version is not compatible with the version of WMWifiRouter on our website. If you purchase(d) through Marketplace, you update through Marketplace – if you purchase(d) from our website our from one of our resellers, you need to use the update from our website!
Getting the Marketplace variant has advantages and disadvantages. One advantage is that billing goes directly through Microsoft or in some cases your carrier (phone bill), so if you have been having trouble purchasing through our website, you might try Marketplace. Another advantage is that Microsoft has signed the application, which means that if you have tried WMWifiRouter from our website and it would not install due to security restrictions on your device, the Marketplace version may work for you. A disadvantage is that updates will be provided through our website much sooner than they will be provided through Marketplace. Another disadvantage is that in the Marketplace version of WMWifiRouter we are not allowed to perform some tricks which are required to make WMWifiRouter work on some devices.
In short, we would advise you to first try the version from our website. If that doesn’t work for you either due to installation failure or due to your credit card being rejected in the purchase process, try the Marketplace version instead.
We would also like to take a moment to thank everyone who has participated in our latest beta test. The amount of feedback was well beyond our expectations. Thank you for helping us improve our products!
